respite, short stay and emergency care for children and adults with
special needs, and their families. Situated on the Norfolk coast, the
centres provide 24 hour care by specialist staff teams, with a full
range of equipment and adaptations to cater for a wide range of
disabilities. BREAK also provides self catering holidays for families
with special needs.

The Lake District Calvert Trust is an Outdoor Activity Centre
specialising in providing outdoor pursuits holidays and courses for
people with disabilities. For groups, families and individuals.
Activities include sailing, canoeing, rock climbing, abseiling, hill
walking and orienteering, and horse riding and trap diving
under the care and guidance of experienced and suitably qualified staff.
The Centre has fully accessible accommodation and all
bedrooms have en suite facilities. On site facilities include a
swimming pool and a sauna, sports hall with climbing wall and large
games room.
Full Board Multi Activity course prices are £290 to £435 per person per
week.
Fully accessible self-catering cottages also available
for small groups and families wishing to have a holiday in the Lake
District without Centre programmed activities. Prices from £250 to £575
per cottage per week.
The Calvert Trust now has a centre in Exmoor.

This is a day centre for children with an autistic spectrum
disorder and other special needs, running from June to mid September.

The project provides holiday respite accommodation in Blackpool to families
with sick or disabled children. The only charge is a £45 booking
fee. Children's rooms are beautifully themed and decorated, and
the accommodation is designed to be as accessible to as many people as
possible.

The Family Holiday Association is a UK charity helping to provide
access to holidays for families in need. Families must be on a low
income, have at least one child aged 3 or over and not have had a
holiday for 4 years. Application forms are available from the
website and by mail and are only accepted from referring agencies
(social workers, health visitors, etc). Applications are usually
considered from November onwards each year and funds may be fully
committed by March.

This organisation provides subsidised group holidays for
children and adults with physical disabilities, with the support of
volunteer helpers, so that parents and carers can also have a break. It
is sometimes possible to offer grants to families with children who have

Harvest Trust is a national UK charity which organises simple seaside holidays
for disadvantaged children. The holidays take place between April and October each
year and are especially for groups of 8 to 11 year olds who really need a week away.
Based at the Trust's own Holiday Centre near Cardigan Bay in West Wales, the holidays are
arranged in partnership with schools, youth and community group.

There is a range of accommodation and facilities at
Kingfisher Barn, some of which have been designed specifically for
wheelchair users. There are 6 self-catering cottages, sleeping from 2
up to 10 guests. Most have disabled facilities including ceiling
tracking for use of hoists in bedrooms and bathrooms, grab rails and
wider doors. There is a heated indoor swimming pool which is also
adapted with hoists and a dipper.
Hoists, slings, cot sides and shower chairs are all available
free of charge upon request.

Their 'School Out' programme provides activity weeks and family
weekends for children and young people with visual impairment.
They provide an opportunity for young people to mix with other people in
a similar situation to themselves in developing life and social skills.
They are currently using Action for Blind Hotels.
The National Holiday Fund takes chronically or terminally ill
children, temporarily or permanently physically disabled children, on a
unique international adventure to Florida, USA. In doing so
parents, guardians and carers of those children have an opportunity to
take a much needed respite, knowing their charges are having the best of
care and continuity of medical attention while they are away from home.
The Charity does NOT fund independent travel arrangements.

TFA UK is the UK's Central source of holiday and travel
information for those with access requirements.
Formerly known as Holiday Care, the charity has collected
information since 1979 about accessible accommodation, and produces a
wide range of information about accessible facilities and services in
the UK and further afield. TFA works with the national tourist board,
VisitBritain, to assess and promote properties under the National
Accessible Scheme, giving customers the assurance they need.
We also have information on how to hire equipment for your
holiday, respite care centres, accessible attractions, financial help,
and activity and children's holidays information.

throughout the UK and overseas.
Vitalise
Vitalise offers holidays and respite care at five centres throughout
the UK, for disabled children and adults. Activities include
sailing, rock climbing, canoeing and arts and crafts. A brochure
