This is an unusual novel, written from the perspective of an
autistic teenager. It won a Whitbread award.
Liz Wickins
Currently only available from www.amazon.co.uk
In this book Liz Wickins shares the story of the birth of her
son, Jonathan, who has Down’s syndrome, and describes how she and her
family have adapted their lives to include him. It is honest and
heart-warming, but does not minimize the difficulties involved in caring
for Jonathan.
The family is South African, and some of the resources
described are not the same as those in the UK, but this does not detract
from the value of the book. It is currently published by Penguin South
Africa, but may be published in the UK at a later date.
